About the Role: Software Engineer – Search
In this role, you will be working with our Search offering, a distributed partitioned index that supports exact and semantic search (nearest neighbor). The index system ingests and builds content in real-time from the Couchbase key-value store, with horizontal scaling and high availability. Your work will be critical in shaping the future of our search solutions.
As a Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, Implementing, and Testing Features: Develop new features within Couchbase's Search offering, available on both hosted and self-managed platforms.
- Optimizing Index Performance: Identify bottlenecks and provide solutions that allow users to fine-tune queries for better performance.
- Full Stack Development: Work across the full stack, from UI to the storage layer of search indexes.
- Collaborative Development: Work closely with geographically distributed cross-functional teams to integrate new features into the overall system architecture.
- Troubleshooting Complex Issues: Resolve performance, consistency, and scalability challenges to ensure the highest level of quality and reliability.
Requirements for Success
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Experience: 2-3+ years in software engineering, ideally with experience in databases or related fields.
- Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of distributed systems and data modeling with JSON documents. Proficiency in Golang is a plus.
- Collaboration: Strong team-oriented attitude, with the ability to work with and guide junior engineers as you collaborate across teams.
- Quality Focus: Strong commitment to writing clean, well-documented code with a focus on unit testing and code reviews.
